MORAGA, Calif. — The Saint Mary's women's water polo program continues to strengthen its roster with the most recent addition in transfer center defender Kohia Rego.
Rego arrives at Saint Mary's after spending two seasons competing at Azusa Pacific University. Having just wrapped up junior year with the Cougars, she tallied 20 goals, 63 assists, and 33 steals. Following the 2025 season, Rego was named to the Golden Coast Conference All-Academic Team. Rego spent her freshman year at Cal State East Bay, tallying five goals and 11 assists before transferring to Azusa Pacific.
Hailing from Honolulu, Rego earned a number of honors while competing in four years of varsity water polo at Kamehameha Schools Kapalama. As a senior, she earned girls water polo Interscholastic League of Honolulu (ILH) Player of the Year after leading the Warriors to the 2023 Hawaii state championship with a 6-1 victory over Punahou. She also earned ILH first-team honors and All-State first-team honors. During her junior year of competition, she was named to the ILH first team and was recognized as a state team honoree. During both seasons, she served as a captain of her team.
Rego will join the Gaels for the upcoming inaugural season as part of a strong group of incoming transfers, adding both depth and experience to the forming roster.
