WWP | Pleasant Hill Native Evalinne Vecchio Joins the Gaels Ahead of Inaugural Season

MORAGA, Calif. — As they continue preparations for the upcoming inaugural season, the Saint Mary's women's water polo team has added local product and transfer Evalinne Vecchio to the roster from Pleasant Hill.
Vecchio joins the Gaels after competing in the 2025-26 season for both the Diablo Valley College water polo and swimming programs. During that season, DVC won 13 matches. An incoming utility player, Vecchio made an immediate impact in the pool and earned the title of the Vikings' Most Valuable Player, tallying 67 goals, which placed her 25th in the 3C2A, 18 assists, and 44 steals.
Prior to her time at Diablo Valley, Vecchio attended Northgate High School, where she was a four-time team MVP from 2019-2022. She also was named the 2021 Diablo Athletic League MVP after scoring a school record 119 goals in a single season.
Vecchio will join head coach Stephen Loomis and the Gaels as they prepare to make program history in Saint Mary's inaugural women's water polo season.
