SAN BRUNO, Calif. — The Saint Mary's beach volleyball team not only dominated on the sand this season, with a program-record 25-10 regular season, but also did so in the classroom, with a West Coast Conference best three first team All-Academic honorees, paired with two more named to the honorable mention All-Academic team. Genevieve Bane, Hannah Couch and Clarissa Klein all earned first team nods, while Angelina Bour and Hannah Glick both were named as honorable mention selectees.
At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to her team and in at least their second year at their school.
Genevieve Bane appeared in every match this season for the Gaels, playing a majority of her matches in the top-flight. The graduate student out of Danville, California went 20-15 in the regular season, including a 15-6 record in the one spot, and maintained a 3.94 GPA while pursuing her Masters in Business Administration. This is her first beach all-academic honor, but Bane was twice honored on the all-academic team for indoor volleyball.
Hannah Couch boasted a stellar 24-10 record, the second best of any player on the team, logging eight wins each at the one, two and three flights. The Lake Tapps, Washington native has been at Saint Mary's for only four years, but is already in her graduate studies, studying single subject education, and has maintained a 3.95 GPA. This is her second All-Academic nod.
Clarissa Klein had her best career season on the sand, going 22-10, including 14-7 from the two flight. Hailing from Sherwood, Oregon, Klein boasts a 4.0 GPA while pursuing her Masters in Business Administration. A standout on the hardwood as well, this is Klein's first beach all-academic nod, to go along with a pair of indoor all-academic selections. She is one of three 4.0s in the West Coast Conference.
Angelina Bour and Hannah Glick both were named honorable mention honorees for the WCC All-Academic team. Bour, a senior out of Tempe, Arizona, went 20-15 this year with 10 wins each at the ones and twos, and maintained a 3.32 GPA as a health science major. Glick, a senior out of San Juan Capistrano, California, set the program single season record this year, going 28-6 exclusively out of the five flight, and maintained a 3.37 GPA as a biology major. This was both Bour and Glick's first all-academic honors.
This is the first time that the Gaels have had three on the WCC First-Team All-Academic list since 2019. The Gaels will be in action this week at the 2026 Beach Volleyball Tournament, starting tomorrow, April 23. Saint Mary's comes into the tournament as the three seed, and is searching for their first ever WCC title.
