SB | True Freshman Madeline Haun Earns First WCC Pitcher of the Week Honor for One Hit Shutout of Toreros

SAN BRUNO, Calif. — For the fifth time this season, the Saint Mary's softball team has had a pitcher named West Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week, but for the first time this year, that pitcher is not named Odhi Vasquez, but rather Madeline Haun, who becomes first Gael true freshman to win the award since Mia Nishikawa in 2024.
Haun came within one out of history for the Gaels, giving up a two-out single in the bottom of the fifth to narrowly miss the first no-hitter in program history, but still recorded the final out just two pitches later to record her first career complete game shutout, one of the one hit variety. She needed just 56 pitches to earn the W over the Toreros, part of a weekend in which the Gaels shutout San Diego three times.
