SAN BRUNO, Calif. — As just announced by the West Coast Conference, a trio of Gaels have earned their way onto the postseason WCC honors list, with Hannah Couch and Hannah Glick earning second team All-WCC nods, and Isla Johnson earning WCC All-Freshman team recognition. The Gaels have had multiple All-WCC honorees every year since 2016, and have had at least one student-athlete named to the All-Freshman team every year in that span as well.
Hannah Couch put together arguably the best resume in Saint Mary's Beach Volleyball history, and capped it with a 26-11 senior campaign. The senior out of Lake Tapps, Washington played in each of the top three flights for the Gaels, going 8-3 at the ones, 8-6 at the twos and 10-2 at the threes. With her 26 wins and 37 matches played this season, Couch became both the all-time winningest player in program history, and the player to appear in the most matches in program history. This was her third consecutive second team All-WCC nod.
Hannah Glick also etched her name into the Saint Mary's history books this year, going 29-8 on the sand, making her the winningest Gael in a single season in program history. The senior out of San Juan Capistrano played exclusively in the fives, and climbed to 15th in program history with 49 wins, and moved her career winning percentage to 0.653, good for eighth best in program history. This was Glick's first career All-WCC nod, to go along with her first WCC All-Academic nod, announced just a week ago.
Isla Johnson became the 14th ever Gael to be named to the WCC All-Freshman team. The Santa Cruz native burst onto the scene to the tune of a 26-11 record appearing in the three, four and five flights. Johnson primarily shined at the threes, going 16-5 in that spot, primarily paired with Couch. Just a true freshman, Johnson already ranks 31st in program history for wins with her 26 this season.
