ANO LIOSIA, GREECE — Following a win over La Laguna Tenerife, Rytas Vilnius is headed to the 2026 Basketball Champions League Finals. Playing point guard for that squad is a very familiar face to Gael faithful, Augustas Marciulionis. Marciulionis joined up with his hometown club in March after playing in 29 games for the South Bay Lakers, and now looks to lead Rytas to its first Champions League Title.
In the win over Tenerife, Marciulionis led the team with five assists, while also burying a three. He has appeared in five total contests for Rytas in the Basketball Champions League, beginning in the Round of 16, averaging 5.8 points per game and 4.2 assists per game, while shooting 40% from the field and 43% from three. Marciulionis has also played 11 games for Rytas in LKL league play, averaging 12.3 PPG and 4.8 APG while shooting 50% from the field. Prior to making his way back to his home nation, he made 29 appearances for the South Bay Lakers, the G-League affiliate of the Los Angeles Lakers, averaging 7.1 PPG and 4.0 APG, also shooting 50% from the field and adding 45% clip from beyond the arc.
A two-time West Coast Conference Player of the Year, Augustas left his mark at Saint Mary's, becoming one of the first three Gaels to appear in four NCAA Tournaments in a four year span. He graduated as one of just two Gaels (Matthew Dellavedova being the other) to record 1200 points, 500 assists and 100 steals in his career.
Rytas will take on AEK Athens in the Basketball Champions League Finals today at 11 a.m. pst. The game will be played at the SUNEL Arena in Athens.
