LOS ANGELES - The Saint Mary's softball team garnered the top spot in the final 2026 D1 Softball Mid-Major ranking Monday morning. The Gaels sit atop the poll for the first time in program history after their historic NCAA Regional run, winning the program's first two NCAA Tournament games including an upset over regional host and No. 13 Oregon.
Saint Mary's hopped the likes of South Florida and Grand Canyon, who each won over 44 games and also made the NCAA Tournament. The Gaels finished their benchmark-raising 2026 campaign with their third WCC Regular Season title and a program-record 42 wins.
