

SB | Gaels Crack Final National D1 Softball Top-25 Poll

LOS ANGELES - The Saint Mary's softball team did nothing but climb in both the mid-major and national D1 Softball polls over the final two weeks of the 2026 season. The Gaels clinched its third consecutive WCC Regular Season title and won the program's first two NCAA Regional games in the Eugene Regional. With their two postseason victories including an upset win over regional host and No. 13 Oregon, Saint Mary's has cracked the top-25 in the national D1 Softball poll, sitting at No. 24 for their highest ranking of the 2026 campaign.
The Gaels are one of just two mid-major programs along with Grand Canyon to make the final D1 Softball poll. Saint Mary's won a program record 42 games with several power-four upsets this season and head coach Sonja Garnett was also named the D1 Softball Mid-Major Coach of the Year.
