SB | Alex Cutonilli Named Florida Gulf Coast League All-Star and Offensive Player of the Year for the Sarasota Loggerheads

SARASOTA, Fla. — As many collegiate summer softball leagues begin to wind down, all-star team rosters have begun to be announced, and all the way across the country in the Florida Gulf Coast League, Saint Mary's rising senior Alex Cutonilli has been named to the FGCL All-Star roster. Cutonilli is coming off of a season in which she logged career-highs for single season hits, runs scored, extra-base hits, on-base percentage, walks and stolen bases as the Gaels everyday second baseman. She has carried her hot play into her summer ball play, as the key offensive standout for her team, the Sarasota Loggerheads.
A native of Oakley, California, Cutonilli is one of just two players for the Loggerheads to appear in all 16 games so far this summer. She ranks second on the team with a .458 batting average, while leading her squad with a 1.042 slug, a 1.522 OPS, 22 hits, four doubles, eight homers, 15 runs scored and 22 RBI. In fact, Cutonilli leads the entire FGCL in OPS, hits, home runs and RBI. As such, she was named the FGCL Offensive Player of the Year.
For the Gaels this past season, Cutonilli was a key piece for SMC's record-breaking 42 win roster. A first-team All-WCC honoree for the first time in her career, Cutonilli batted .313 with 18 extra-base hits and 41 RBI. Cutonilli also showed off a new part of her game in 2026, swiping 10 bags on 10 attempts, after stealing just three bases in her first two seasons with the Gaels.
Cutonilli will return to Saint Mary's for her senior season. She currently sits tied for the fifth most RBI in program history with 94, ranks sixth in program history with 32 doubles and is tied for ninth in program history with 14 home runs.
The Florida Gulf Coast League All-Star Game will be played July 8 at 11 AM EST.
