WXC | Gaels Women’s Cross Country Run Close to Home Saint Mary’s Invitational

MORAGA, Calif. — Following its first race of the season at the Gaucho Invitational, the Saint Mary's women's cross country team is prepared to run in its first home race since the 2021 WCC Championships at the Saint Mary's Invitational.
At the Gaucho Invitational, the Gaels placed third out of five teams with Courtney Fitzgibbon and Zoe Leach leading the way as the top two finishers for Saint Mary's in the women's 4K. Fitzgibbon finished 12th overall with a time of 14:15.8, while Leach finished 15th overall with a time of 14:22.7. Next in were Julia-Anna Lily Bell and Audrey O'Connor, who both made their debut as Gaels and finished in 14:28.1 and 14:41.9, respectively. Jane Harig rounded out the top-five finishers for the Gaels with a time of 14:45.2.
Representing the Gaels at the Saint Mary's Invitational will be graduate student Kaylee Barnes, seniors Jane Carney, Eleanor Jepsen, Julia-Anna Lily Bell, juniors Jane Harig, Ava Luczkow, Luna Mole, Alexis Ortiz, sophomores Maya Crimin, Courtney Fitzgibbon, Zoe Leach, Flavia Linares, Peyton Miles, Emma West, Kylie Wisely, along with freshman Sadie Cotten and Audrey O'Connor. Of this group, the veteran Barnes has the fastest 6K time, which she recorded at the 2024 Santa Clara Bronco Invitational. Barnes placed second overall in a field of 182 runners with a time of 20:15.4.
The Saint Mary's Invitational will take place at Newhall Park, which features a flat and hard packed gravel surface with three 2K loops. There will be on-site parking in the lot on Turtle Creek Rd. The women's 6000 is set to begin at 9:30 a.m.
