AS A FRESHMAN (2017-18): Redshirt season.
PRIOR TO SAINT MARY'S: Yates was a five-time selection for the New South Wales (NSW) Metro State teams that competed in the Australia Junior Championships. She was selected as the co-captain for the U-18 squad in 2016, averaging over 14 points, along with six rebounds and over two assists per game. Also in 2016, Yates was selected to the NSW All-State School team, winning a gold medal in the Australia Schools Championships without dropping a game. Playing for her home club, Norths Bears in the 2016 National Junior Club Classic, Yates averaged just under 16 points and six rebounds per game. As a captain for her home club, she helped guide her team to four State Championships. A four-year member of Basketball Australia’s National Intensive Training Program (NITP), Yates was also a three-year member of the WNBL’s Sydney Flames development squad.
