Alex O'Sullivan
- Title:
- Volunteer Assistant
Alex O’Sullivan, recent graduate of Saint Mary’s and an important contributor to Saint Mary’s indoor and beach volleyball for the past four years, returns as assistant coach for the Gaels during the 2021 Spring season.
O’Sullivan recently received her Masters in Kinesiology from Saint Mary’s after graduating with a BS in Kinesiology in 2019. Both degrees came while competing as a student-athlete for the Gaels.
“We really could not have done better if we had conducted a nationwide search” said Browning. “Alex is SMCVB royalty. She embodied everything we hope for in our student-athletes while she was playing for us, and she is the kind of role model we want our Gaels to learn from. Her presence has always been calming and her personality and character are golden. I could not be happier to have her back in our gym and on our bench helping us guide this wonderful team we have right now.”
O’Sullivan played indoor and beach for the Gaels from 2016 until 2019 and was a critical part of the 2018 team that qualified for the NCAA tournament. She played in over a hundred matches on the hardwood and on the sand for Saint Mary’s and was a factor in many victories for both teams.
“I am so excited to be back with SMCVB!” exclaimed O’Sullivan. “This is such an amazing program with a knowledgeable coaching staff and a talented group of players. I am so grateful for this opportunity to be back in the gym playing in the reverse role of coaching and teaching what I have learned over the years while also learning from some of the best."
