Women's Tennis Victorious in Portland

Moraga, CA - The Saint Mary's women's tennis team (3-5) traveled to the University of Portland on Saturday to defeat the Pilots by the final score of 5-4. The two teams battled all day long, but the Gaels were able to outlast the Pilots and take home the victory.
In singles action, the Gaels took four of five winning the number 2, spot and sweeping the 4-6 spots. In the no. 2 spot; Heather Snow def. Jana Jusapovic, 7-5, 6-1; in the no. 4 spot; Mariko Miller def. Yenny Njoo, 6-4, 6-7, 6-2; in the no. 5 spot; Lindsay Herndon-Ortega def. Andrea Keuler, 6-1, 6-4; and in the no. 6 spot; Catalina Fillol def. Jenny Kaplan, 6-4, 6-2. In doubles play the Gaels were only able to squeak out one point, but that proved to be the deciding point in the match. In the no. 3 doubles spot; Snow/Fillol def. Kaplan/Keuler to take the match.
The women's tennis team will be in action again on Friday, March 4 at home versus CS Northridge, first serve is set for 3:00 p.m.
