WTEN | Gaels Secure 4-2 Win Over Gonzaga Backed By Singles Success

MORAGA, Calif. — The Saint Mary's women's tennis team closed out the weekend on a high note with a 4-2 West Coast Conference win over Gonzaga on Sunday afternoon.

The Gaels fell short in doubles play, despite a 6-3 win from Sofia Daryaie and Tiana Fox, but stormed all the way back to secure all four points in singles action.

Saint Mary's got wins from Daryaie, Fox, Elif Tuana Gunal, and Madison Weekley. Daryaie earned her point in straight sets, closing out the match with a strong performance in a second-set tiebreaker and improving her season record to 4-6. Fox and Gunal came away with wins in straight sets, earning their third and fourth wins of the season, respectively. Weekley joined in on the success with a first-set tiebreaker and second-set win to clinch the match victory for Saint Mary's. The senior continues to lead the Gaels in wins as she brings her overall record to 9-4 on the season.
