Moraga, CA - Freshman forward Katie Frattone (Laguna Hills, CA) was named the West Coast Conference women's soccer Player of the Week for the weeks beginning August 27 and ending September 2 after her first career hat trick.
Frattone garnered the WCC honors after leading Saint Mary's to a 2-0 record and the tournament title at the UNLV Classic. In the first game of the tournament against Washington State, who is the 9th ranked team in the Western Region, Frattone got the start due to the injury of sophomore standout Lucianne Crenshaw. In the span of 30 minutes, Frattone unleashed for three goals to bring the Gaels back from a 2-0 deficit. In the second contest versus Long Beach State, Frattone recorded four shots.
Frattone and the rest of the Saint Mary's soccer team (2-0) return to action this weekend at the Northwestern Tournament. They will face Northwestern on Saturday, September 8, and Minnesota on Monday, September 10. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:00 am and 9:30 am (Pacific), respectively.
