
Golf Takes Top Spot at Intercollegiate at Diablo Grande

Patterson, CA - The Saint Mary's golf team shot a three round total 897 (+33) to finish with the tournament championship at the Intercollegiate at Diablo Grande on Tuesday. Saint Mary's finished 21 strokes better than Drake University and Centenary College finished third.
Brent Jensen finished with a 220 (+4) to capture the individual title by three strokes. Jensen opened the tournament with a 78, in the first round on Monday and regrouped to post a 2-under 70 in the late round on Monday. In Tuesday's final round, Jensen posted an even par 72 to finish three strokes ahead of teammate Joe Lanza.
Lanza posted individual rounds of 74, 76 and 73, respectively for a three round total of 223 (+7) and finished second overall. Junior Joey Morstad finished in sole possession of third place, posting a 224 (+8) for the event. Morstad had rounds of 76, 75 and 73.
Rounding out the other Gaels in the tournament were Liam Kendregen, who finished in seventh place with a three round total of 233 (+15) and John Chirila finished tied for ninth with a 238 (+20).
The Saint Mary's golf team will return to the links on April 8-9 when the Gaels compete in the Cal Poly Intercollegiate at the Cypress Ridge Golf Course in Arroyo Grande, CA.
