LAST TIME OUT (5th place at Duck Invitational)
Saint Mary's competed at one of the most challenging golf courses this year but battled to finish alone in fifth place at the 36th annual Duck Invitational at Eugene Country Club. Quick greens and thick rough proved challenging for the entire tournament field as not one team concluded the three-round event in red figures. In the final round on Tuesday, Eugene Country Club played nearly four strokes over par producing some of the highest scores of the entire week.
Despite the challenges, Saint Mary's posted the second lowest team score of the day on Tuesday and were able to climb two spots on the team leaderboard for the solo fifth place finish. Senior Aidan Lee kept steady over all three rounds and recorded his best finish of the 2025-26 season in a tie for fifth place with a 214 (+1). Mitchell Hoey put together his best round of the week with a 73 (+2) while redshirt freshman Sam Baumuller finished t-18th for his sixth top-20 finish of the season. Baumuller also leads the Gaels with a 70.6 stroke average over his nine events this season.
Saint Mary's finished t-3rd in par-four scoring and t-2nd in par-five scoring at 12-under to help secure its sixth top-five finish of the year.
The Gaels tee off at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday in round one of the 2026 Wyoming Cowboy Classic at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club. Additional tournament information and round recaps can be found at smcgaels.com.
