MGOLF | Gaels Climb Two Spots for Top-5 Finish at Duck Invitational

EUGENE, Ore. - The Saint Mary's men's golf team climbed two spots in Tuesday's final round of the 2026 Duck Invitational to secure its sixth top-five finish of the 2025-26 season and third of the spring season.
Eugene Country Club played the hardest it had all week, playing nearly four strokes over par at 74.92. Saint Mary's finished 10-over-par in its final round but that was good for the second lowest team score of the day, allowing them to jump San Jose State and Boise State for sole possession of fifth place. Big Ten member Illinois won the event at 5-over-par.
Sam Baumuller jumped eleven spots on the individual leaderboard with a team low even par final round which featured four birdies including one over his final two holes to card a 71. Mitchell Hoey put together his best round of the week with a 73 (+2) while Aidan Lee and Inigo Izuzquiza were the final two counting scores for the Gaels. Baumuller finished t-18th individually after the three rounds with Hoey coming in next in 32nd place and Izuzquiza in 41st place out of 88 total golfers. Final round scores can be found HERE.
Saint Mary's entered the week with its lowest Clippd Scoreboard ranking of the season at 58 and were able to record another top-five finish and place above No. 48 Cincinnati in the 15-team field.
