
Volleyball Downs Texas-San Antonio, 3-1

San Luis Obispo, CA- The Saint Mary's women's volleyball team defeated Texas-San Antonio in its final game of the Cal Poly Invitational by a final score of 3-1. Game scores for the Gaels defeat of the Roadrunners were 30-21, 20-30, 30-28, and 30-19. Saint Mary's finished the invitational with a record of 2-1 and now possesses an overall record of 5-2 on the season. With the loss Texas-San Antonio falls to 1-5.
The Gaels consistently proved to be too much for the Roadrunners throughout the match. Saint Mary's bettered their opponent in three of the four games in attacking percentage. The Gaels .266 attacking percentage overpowered the Roadrunners own of .146 for the match.
Leading the way for the Gaels was sophomore Kaui Salzman's match-high total of 22 digs. Salzman also contributed nine kills and a attacking percentage of .421 to help the Gaels to victory. Also providing stellar support were juniors Stacey O'Connor and Lindsey Bogason. O'Connor posted 11 kills, one block assist, and one ace for the match. Bogason also played well for Saint Mary's with a team-high 13 kills, seven digs, and a match-high three aces.
Saint Mary's was helped by the play of their underclassmen. Freshmen Cassandra Kolkka and Mandy Bible also played well for the Gaels. Kolkka totaled three kills, one ace, 16 digs, and one block assist for the match while Bible recorded a team-high 38 assists , one ace, and three digs.
Saint Mary's will resume action Tuesday September 9 when they travel to play against No. 3-ranked Stanford in Palo Alto at 7:00 PM
