Moraga, CA - The Saint Mary's softball team was scheduled to play a doubleheader against UC Santa Barbara on Thursday. After the teams played a rain filled first inning, the rain became too heavy for the game to continue and was delayed with one out in the top of the second inning.
The first game began at 1 p.m. and went into a rain delay at 1:30. UC Santa Barbara took a 1-0 lead, following a Katie Oliver home run to center field with one out in the second inning. After UCSB placed runners on second and third following a double by Brittany Putich, the game was stopped with a 1-0 count on Jessica Hejna.
After waiting 30 minutes the two games were cancelled at 2:03 p.m, after 1.1 innings of play. Since the game did not go past five innings, the stats for the game will not count for either team. The double header between the two schools most likely will not been rescheduled.
Saint Mary's will return to action on Thursday, April 1 when the Gaels host Oregon State. First pitch for the game will be at 2 p.m. at SMC's Cottrell Field.
