Women's Tennis Falls to Davidson 6-1

Moraga, CA- The Saint Mary's women's tennis team fell to visiting Davidson College on Thursday 6-1. With the loss the Gaels drop to 2-7 on the season. Saint Mary's was able to capture one singles and doubles matches and took two of the singles matches to three sets before succumbing to the Wildcats.

In singles action Anne-Joy de Graan was the lone Gael to earn a victory. In her marathon three set win that went into the night, de Graan was able to beat Katherine Hatch by a score of 6-3, 0-6, 7-5 at the #6 position. The other Gaels to take her match to three sets was sophomore Kate Harden. In her match that also touched darkness, Harden fell to Meggie Patterson at the #2 position 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.

Freshman Aude Lambert dropped her #1 singles match to Davidson's Kelly Fillnow 6-3, 6-1. At the #3 position, Saint Mary's Megan Schulman was defeated by Meghan Fillnow in straight sets 6-2, 6-1. Kristen Kummer dropped her #4 singles match to Lindsay Powel 6-4, 6-4 while Nicole Hunstock also lost her match, losing to Kate Levitt 7-6 (5), 6-4 at the #5 position.

In doubles action the Saint Mary's duo of Lambert and Hunstock recorded the lone victory for the Gaels by defeating the Fillnow twins by a score of 8-4. The Gaels' Harden and Kummer dropped their first doubles match for first time in close to a month when they were defeated by Patterson and Powel 8-4. Dunya Stankovic and Schulman dropped their #3 doubles match to Davidson's Sarah Borkowski and Hatch 8-2.

Saint Mary's returns to action Saturday, March 6 when they travel to Stockton to face University of Pacific at 2:30 PM.
