Moraga, CA - The 2007-08 season will mark the 100th year in the history of men's basketball at Saint Mary's College. To recognize the 100 years of basketball, Saint Mary's will release the top-25 players of the last century. Saint Mary's will countdown players announce players 25 through 17 on the nine days counting down to the opening game of the year.

Kenny Jones did everything well. Shoot, dribble, rebound and play defense, evidenced in the fact that he ranks second all-time in steal average (1.8 spg), third all-time in rebounding average (10.3 rpg), and ninth all time in career scoring average (16.1 ppg). Jones, a native of San Francisco, averaged a double-double during his two-year career with 16.1 points per game and 10.3 rebounds per game. He also ranks #8 on single season rebounding average.

In Jones' junior, he was among the nation's leaders in rebounding, until an ankle injury slowed him in the middle part of the season, yet he was still named Second Team All-WCAC in 1978. In the forward's senior campaign, he averaged 17.5 points per game shooting 44 percent (210-477) from the floor.

Kenny Jones

Before coming to Saint Mary's, he was the California Junior College Player of the Year while at Santa Rosa Junior College and prepped at both Galileo High School and Lincoln High School in San Francisco.

Former Gaels head coach Frank LaPorte was quoted as saying "Kenny is our most complete ball player. He can do it all. He has a super attitude, he loves the game, and he plays it very well. We feel he is the best player in the area."

Players 16-1 will be released at each home game during the season, with No. 16 being announced at halftime of the game between SMC and Sonoma State on November 9. The best player in the history of the program will be named at the Gaels' final home game of the season on February 25 when SMC hosts San Diego at 7 p.m.
