Patrick Mills Named WCC Player of the Week

San Bruno, CA – For the second time this season, and fifth time in his career, Patrick Mills was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week. Mills shared this week's award, which was announced on Monday, December 8, with Santa Clara's John Bryant.

Playing all 40 minutes in a 75-69 win over Kent State on Thursday, Mills scored a game-high 26 points, for his fourth 20-point game of the season, and 13th in 39 career games at Saint Mary's. The win by SMC snapped an 18-game home winning streak by Kent State.

Against the Golden Flashes, the sophomore from Canberra, Australia was 8-for-17 from the floor, while hitting 4-of-7 shots from 3-point land. He was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line, making all four free throws he took in the final two minutes of the game to help secure the win. He also added three assists, two rebounds and one steal.

For the season, Mills is averaging a team-best 20.7 points per game, which ranks second in the West Coast Conference. Additionally, he leads the WCC in 3-pointers made (18), steals (17), and is his 4.0 assists per game ranks fifth in the conference.

Mills and the Gaels will return to action on Saturday, December 13 in the John R. Wooden against the San Diego State Aztecs. The game between SMC and San Diego State will tip-off at 1:30 p.m. from the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA. The game will be televised by KCAL in Southern California and HD Net, and will be picked up in the Bay Area by Comcast Sports Net-California.
