
Three Gaels Earn Ranking by Intercollegiate Tennis Association

Skillman, NJ - Three members of the Saint Mary's tennis program earned rankings by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) on February, 20. Leading the way was senior Jessica Hoath from the women's program; earning a ranking in singles action, while Joel Kusnierz and Marek Dvorak received recognition on the doubles side.
Senior Jessica Hoath earned the first ITA ranking of her career, as she was ranked the No. 57 player in the nation. The ITA only ranks the top-100 players in the NCAA DIV I. Hoath has compiled an impressive resume so far this season, as she has posted a 3-3 record in singles and 5-1 record in doubles all at the No. 1 position. Hoath posted wins in the Gaels matches against Portland, Gonzaga, and Santa Clara, all members of the West Coast Conference.
The native of Coomera, Australia has led the team throughout their 2008 campaign, as the team as posted a 5-1 record. The Gaels' only loss came to the No. 3 ranked Stanford Cardinal. The Gaels started off the season with a No. 57 team ranking by the ITA, and their performance this season has boosted them to their highest ranking in program history, No. 48.
The pair of Joel Kusnierz and Marek Dvorak was ranked the No. 60 doubles team in intercollegiate tennis. Both playing in their senior seasons, Kusnierz and Dvorak have posted a 5-3 record together, defeating doubles teams from No. 70 Utah, No. 39 California, Hawaii, Southern Miss, and New Mexico State.

Kusnierz and Dvorak are instrumental to the Gael squad this season, helping Saint Mary's to a 6-2 record. The men's program is currently on a five-match winning streak, and look to be on their way to earn a team national ranking of their own.
Both programs will continue action this week, as the women host San Francisco on Monday, February 25 at 2:00 PM. The men play at San Diego on Saturday, February 23 at 12:30 PM and will continue play in Moraga on Sunday, February 24 versus Gonzaga at 11:00 AM.
