4/1/2026 10:33:00 AM | Men's Tennis
SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Saint Mary's men's tennis team took on a competitive Point Loma squad on Tuesday night, and came away with the 4-1 victory to start their SoCal road trip with a win.
The Gaels surrendered just one point in singles play, but won all three doubles matches, and got dual wins from Thibaud Maxant, Finn Dyer and junior transfer Joey Lyon. Lyon is in his first season with Saint Mary's after transferring from Lewis and Clark College, and recorded his second singles win of the 2026 season. Lyon capped off a successful day with a doubles win as well, alongside true freshman Juan Pedro Etchecoin, defeating the Sea Lions duo 6-4 out of the three-spot.
Maxant won his fifth singles match of the season, improving 5-7 overall. Maxant and Dyer also paired up for the 17th time this season, and won their team leading ninth doubles match as a duo on Tuesday night. The pair have now won three straight doubles matches, as the Gaels continue to be hot out of the gate, clinching the doubles point now in three consecutive matches.
