Zack Masters will begin his third season with the Saint Mary's College women's soccer program as a volunteer assistant coach in 2013.
The Gaels finished with a 6-12-2 overall record in 2012, which included facing four nationally ranked programs. Individual season standouts included two All-WCC honorees and two WCC All-Academic members.
In 2011, Masters assisted the Gaels to their first 10 win in over ten years, including back-to-back winning seasons; with a 2010 record of 8-7-4.
Masters previously conducted a four-year stint as the head men's and women's coach at Menlo College in Menlo Park, Calif. He remains heavily involved with the state and region Olympic Development Programs (ODP) and coaches in local youth club programs. During Masters' tenure at NCAA Division III Menlo College, more than 20 student-athletes earned all-conference honors and the team's grade point average remained higher than a cumulative 3.0. He led the women's team to an upper division finish and the postseason playoffs each season.
Masters has experienced success coaching men and women at the club and ODP levels, in addition to coaching two nationally ranked high school programs in the Sacramento area. While the top assistant coach at Jesuit High School, Masters helped the boys varsity program to an overall record of 144-8-7, four Sac-Joaquin Section championships and a No. 1 national ranking in 2003 by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. His boys' team attained four NSCAA top 20 national rankings during his time at Jesuit.
As a head coach, Masters led the St. Francis High School girl's program to four conference championships and four Sac-Joaquin section championships in five seasons, with an overall record of 104-10-17 and a No.3 national ranking by the NSCAA. Masters' girls' squad was ranked in the top 20 in the nation by the NSCAA for four out of five seasons. In 2004, Masters was named Coach of The Year for California Private and Parochial schools by the NSCAA. Masters was also named Coach of The Year by the Sacramento Bee newspaper for four seasons (2000, 2001, 2003, and 2004).
As head coach with the San Juan Soccer Club in Folsom, California, Masters took three teams to the CYSA State Cup quarterfinals. He recently served as the director of goalkeeping for the MP Strikers and Alpine FC, and as an assistant director of coaching at Juventus Sport Club in Redwood City, Calif.
Zack Masters graduated from Sacramento State in 1999. He is also a Northern California & Region IV ODP Staff Coach and coaches with the Davis Legacy Soccer Club (Davis, CA).
