Anthony Gonsolin Bio

AS A SENIOR (2016): Named to the All-WCC First Team ... Appeared in 57 games making 57 starts as primarily an outfielder with 18 appearances and five starts coming as a pitcher … Pitched in 42 innings finishing the season 3-3 with an ERA of 3.86 … Threw 39 strikeouts, 18 earned runs and 16 walks … tallied up season-high seven strikeouts against Pacific on Apr. 10 … In the first West Coast Conference Tournament game against Pepperdine on May 26, earned the win throwing four strikeouts in 2.1 innings played … As an outfielder, made only three errors the whole season with a fielding percentage of .971 … Had 65 hits over the season with 26 RBI's at 212 at bats … Finished the season with a .400 on base percentage and a .476 slugging percentage … Racked up seven homeruns at bat while only allowing one as a pitcher … Recorded a triple in back to back games in a narrow 11 inning loss to UC Santa Barbara on Apr. 26 and a victory against San Francisco on Apr. 29 … Tallied up a homer against Coastal Carolina on Jun. 3 in the NCAA Baseball Championships.

AS A JUNIOR (2015): Continued to show his skills as one of Saint Mary's most impactful all-around players, contributing in the outfield, at the plate and on the mound in another standout season ... Hit .316 with 62 hits, 32 runs, 11 doubles, five triples, two home runs and 24 RBI while also leading the team with 12 stolen bases ... On the mound, appeared in 17 games (six starts) and compiled a 2-2 record and 3.14 ERA ... Ranks second on SMC's single-season saves list with seven, all of which came in the first two months of the season ... Transitioned back into the weekend rotation in mid-April and stayed there to the end of the year ... Best start of the season came on May 12 against UC Davis when he struck out 10 and pitched eight innings in a 7-3 win for Saint Mary's ... Was dominant in a relief role early in the year, striking out 12 in the first eight innings he pitched (seven appearances) ... Got off to a slow start at the plate but finished the year as one of SMC's hottest players at the plate, hitting safely in 14 of his final 15 games ... Began that stretch with a .264 batting average and raised that mark 52 points between April 25 and the final game of the year on May 18 ... Finished second on the team with 19 multi-hit games and seven multiple-RBI games ... Played both corner outfield positions as well as designated hitter ... Finished the year second on SMC's all-time triples list with 14, trailing only Von Hayes (17) ... Named to the watch list for the John Olerud Award which is given to the best two-way player in the nation.

AS A SOPHOMORE (2014): Perhaps Saint Mary's most productive all-around contributor throughout the 2014 season contributed at the plate, in the field and on the mound ... Started all 54 games he appeared in, finishing the season with team highs in batting average (.308), runs (37), and triples (8). Ranked second on the team with 24 RBI and third in doubles with nine ... His eight triples put him in a tie for the national lead in the category at the end of the regular season ... Hit in the top four spots in the lineup all season and produced 17 multi-hit games ... Had six games of three hits or better and collected a season-high four hits on March 18 at home against Minnesota ... When he wasn't at the plate, Gonsolin played a great right field, leading all SMC outfielders with 20 assists ... On the mound, he spent much of the season as the Gaels' Sunday starter, finishing the year with a 2-6 record and 4.32 ERA ... Pitching wasn't in the original plan to begin the season but a tremendous 5-plus inning relief performance at Cal State Fullerton on March 14 put him back in the mix on the mound ... His best start of the season came in his next appearance when he threw seven shutout innings with seven strikeouts on March 23 at Portland ... Worked the final few weeks of the season out of the bullpen.

AS A FRESHMAN (2013): Hit .245 in 23 games as a freshman, making 14 starts ... Of his 13 hits, four were for extra bases, including three doubles and a triple ... Also made six appearances on the mound, tossing 6.1 innings, allowing seven runs with four strikeouts ... Had three multi-hit games, his first career multi-hit game coming at UC Riverside on March 1 ... Also tallied two doubles in a win against Utah Valley ... Top stint on the mound came in a win at Nevada ... Gonsolin tossed two scoreless frames at Nevada, allowing no hits and striking out a pair.

PRIOR TO SAINT MARY'S: Gonsolin makes his way to Moraga from Vacaville High School ... The pitcher/utility player had a tremendous senior year on the mound and at the plate ... On the bump, he was 4-1 with two saves and posted a 2.60 ERA ... In 29.2 innings pitched, he gave up only 20 hits and struck out 33 ... Opponents hit a mere .180 against him ... He threw two complete games, one of which was a shutout ... At the plate, he collected 30 hits posting a .370 batting average hit .370 collecting 30 hits, seven of which were triples ... He knocked in 19 runs and also stole 12 bases ... He was named to the All Monticello Empire League team and was named an Optimist Sacramento Area All-Star and garnered MVP honors for the South squad in the all-star game.
