MORAGA, Calif. -- On the heels of two impressive victories in his last two matches, Saint Mary's men's tennis player Jesse Kiuru saw his name included in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings released Tuesday.
The native of Lahti, Finland joined the rankings at No. 100. Since the last rankings were announced two weeks ago, Kiuru has earned a tough three-set victory over then-No. 37 Patrick Kawka of BYU and a straight sets win over Jared Spiker of Hawai'i.
Kiuru's win over Kawka was his second over a ranked opponent this season. He defeated UCLA's Dennis Novikov, ranked No. 58 at the time, in straight sets in February.
Saint Mary's takes on San Francisco Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Korth Tennis Complex in the Gaels' final home match of the 2013 season.
