
WSOC | Gaels Ranked 7th In NSCAA West Region Poll

MORAGA, Calif. – The Saint Mary's women's soccer team is ranked 7th in the latest NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA West Region Poll.
Entering the week with a 3-3 overall record, the Gaels just dropped two spots in the poll after losses to nationally ranked California and a road match at Nevada.
Pepperdine remained at No. 1, followed by No. 2 Long Beach State, No. 3 San Francisco, No. 4 Santa Clara, No. 5 UC Riverside, No. 6 CSUN and No. 7 Saint Mary's. Rounding out the top-10 is No. 8 Loyola Marymount, No. 9 Seattle and No. 10 UC Davis. San Francisco, CSUN and Seattle entered the poll this past week.
Saint Mary's has scored 11 goals this season as a team, with 15 assists. Vicki Shimkus, Samantha Dion and Hannah Diaz have scored two goals apiece, while four other Gaels have also scored goals. Jessica Castillo and Jessica Imbrie share the team lead with four assists apiece.
Dion has taken the most shots on the team with 14, while Diaz has taken 12 shots.
Julia McDonald has played all 540 minutes in goal with a 1.67 goals against average. She has 23 saves and allowed 10 goals.
While the Gaels are being outshot by opponents 88-66, the Gaels hold the advantage in shots on goal with a 38-34 mark.
After the home matches against Idaho and Seattle this week, the Gaels will go on the road with five consecutive road matches, traveling to Lawrence, Kansas to San Luis Obispo to the Spokane and Portland.
