
GOLF | Geyer Earns First PGA Tour Qualification

RENO, Nev. -- Former Saint Mary's golfer Ben Geyer earned one of four spots in this weekend's PGA Tour Barracuda Championship after firing a 7-under par 65 in a qualifying event today at Hidden Valley Country Club.
A native of Arbuckle, Calif., Geyer registered eight birdies and one bogey to finish tied for second among 63 golfers. He joins leader Tom Johnson and Chris Gilman in the field. The final qualification spot will be determined by a playoff between three golfers that finised tied for fourth place at 6-under par.
Earlier this year, the 2013 Saint Mary's College graduate qualified for this year's Web.com Tour and the Barracuda Championship will be his first ever PGA Tour appearance. He is a 2-time first team all-West Coast Conference honoree and earned league co-Player of the Year honors as a senior.
The Barracuda Championship is in its 17th consecutive season and takes place August 6-9 at Montrêux Golf & Country Club. Live television coverage will be provided by The Golf Channel.
