MGOLF | Gaels Saddle Up and Head to Missouri for Tiger Intercollegiate
4/5/2026 4:01:00 PM | Men's Golf
COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Saint Mary's men's golf team heads to Missouri for tournament number two in a stretch of three events over a two week span, competing in the 2026 Missouri Tiger Intercollegiate at The Club at Old Hawthorne.
The Gaels competed in their largest tournament field of the entire 2025-26 season last week, taking sixth place out of 25 teams at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic. Head coach Scott Hardy and his group have been battle tested all year long, especially as of late, competing at several contrasting golf courses over the last few weeks including Pacific Northwest golf and thick rough at the Duck Invitational in Eugene, and most recently, desert golf in Maricopa, Arizona at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic.
The tournament field will deal with colder temperatures this week in Columbia, Missouri, with temps in the low 40's throughout the mornings and not exceeding the mid 60's into the afternoons. Saint Mary's sits at No. 64 in this week's Clippd Scoreboard rankings, and will have two more opportunities to gain ground before the West Coast Conference tournament, starting on May 1.
Saint Mary's placed second last year at the Missouri Tiger Intercollegiate, and will be competing in the event for the third consecutive season here in 2026.

LAST TIME OUT (6th place at Wyoming Cowboy Classic)
Saint Mary's has been incredibly consistent all year long, and they looked the part again last week with a sixth place finish at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic. The Gaels made their move in the afternoon round on Tuesday, recording the second lowest team score in round two at 8-under-par, to move into the top four of the 25-team field. Avery Lazarski led the charge with a bogey-free card, recording four birdies for a second round score of 68 (-4). Sam Baumuller and Inigo Izuzquiza were both two-under, with Baumuller recording a team-high seven birdies in his second round.
Saint Mary's shot just 1-under in its final round on Wednesday, but the entire course played tough, as the average score was nearly two strokes over par for the highest of the week. Lazarski recorded his third consecutive round in red figures, shooting a 69 (-3) on Wednesday to finish in sixth place individually, his best finish of the 2025-26 season and his second top-10 of the year.
The Gaels fell into sixth place, but still finished above a pair of ranked teams in No. 45 South Florida and No. 42 San Diego as the top WCC team in the field.
The Gaels tee off at 8:00 a.m. central time on Monday in round one of the 2026 Missouri Tiger Intercollegiate at The Club at Old Hawthorne. Additional tournament information and round recaps can be found at smcgaels.com.
