WSOC | Gaels Come From Behind for Win Against Tigers

Saint Mary's scored two second-half goals to beat Pacific 2-1 on Sunday.

STOCKTON, Calif. —Saint Mary's (7-9-2, 2-5-1 WCC) overcame a rough five-game skid as they defeated Pacific (2-15, 0-8-0 WCC) 2-1 on Sunday afternoon. Kailana Kaeo and Jaylen Crim scored both goals three minutes apart in the second half of the match.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After the Tigers scored the lone goal of the first half, Kaeo recorded the first goal for the Gaels off a pass from Hailey Prentice and launched the ball past the goalie into the center of the net in the 64th minute of the contest. Kaeo tallied one shot in the match and the goal was her second of the season.

Three minutes following Kaeo's goal, Crim pulled the Gaels into the lead after she drove the ball into the goal past the goalie into the close right corner of the net in the 67th minute. The goal proved to be the game-winner for Saint Mary's as the Gaels did not let up a goal for the rest of the match.

The Gaels fired off 10 shots during the game and were led by Crim and Kelsey Hill with three a piece.

In goal, Sarah Sawatzky made her second start of the season for the Gaels and was only forced to make three saves off of Pacific's eight shots during the first half. Maleah Milner came in for Saint Mary's for the second half of the contest and tallied five saves, which was half of the amount of shots taken by the Tigers.
