NEW YORK -- After a historic senior campaign in a year where Saint Mary's men's basketball won 30 games for the first time in program history, Jock Landale was named to the Associated Press All-American Second Team, it was announced today.
Landale becomes the first Gael in program history named to the First, Second or Third Team by the AP. David Vann (Honorable Mention, 1981-82), Omar Samhan (Honorable Mentio2009-10), Mickey McConnell (2010-11) and Matthew Dellavedova (2011-12, 2012-13) are the other Gaels that have been named to the prestigious list.
Landale becomes just the second Gael to be named an AP All-American in at least two seasons, as the senior was an Honorable Mention in 2016-17.
The senior center led the West Coast Conference in points per game (21.1), rebounds (10.2), field-goal percentage (64.0), offensive rebounds (2.9), defensive rebounds (7.3) and double-doubles (19).
Landale's senior campaign saw the most points scored (761) and field-goals made (301) by a single player in a single season in program history.
The 6-11 Aussie is first in the NCAA in total field-goals made, seventh in field-goal percentage, ninth in total points, 10th in double-doubles and 19th in rebounds per game.
The West Coast Conference Player of the Year is also a member on the NABC Coaches' All-American Second Team, NABC First Team, USBWA All-American Second Team, USBWA All-District IX Team and a top-5 finalist for the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar award for the nation's best center.
