MORAGA, Calif. - In the season's last home game, Saint Mary's (12-7, 6-2 WCC) did not disappoint, as the Gaels showcased a clutch performance over Gonzaga (14-6, 5-2 WCC), 4-3, Saturday afternoon at Timothy Korth Tennis Complex.

Saint Mary's will close out the regular season on the road at BYU on Saturday, April 21 at 10 a.m. PDT.

"Really proud of today's performance by everyone," said head coach Simon Harston. "Gonzaga is a really good team that made us win every point out there. I'm happy how our seniors handled the emotions of today."

In a thrilling match between top-50 doubles teams in the country, No. 43 Mariia Kozyreva and Hind Abdelouahid and No. 29 Sophie Whittle and Graciela Rosas for Gonzaga took it to a nail biting tiebreaker as both Gaels clutch serving and powerful groundstrokes gave SMC the 7-6 win.

On court 2, senior leaders Kareena Manji and Emma Critser took down Gonzaga from the very start after rolling through a solid, 6-0 sweep.

After the Zags clinched a singles win to tie the match, 1-1, Critser pulled through for the straight-set victory on court No. 5.

Fellow senior Manji followed suit, winning a three-set battle on court No. 4.

"To see our seniors go out and perform the way they did today was great to see," said Harston.

After GU claimed wins on courts 3 and 6, Abdelouahid clinched the Gaels' fourth straight victory with the three-set win on court No. 2.

"For Hind, it was a great experience for her to play through and get that clinching match," said Harston.
