BERKELEY, Calif. — Saint Mary's and their East Bay rival Cal went toe-to-toe Saturday night in exhibition action with the match eventually ending in a 1-1 draw. SMC will finish exhibition play 0-1-1 this season after dropping an earlier contest this week at Stanford.

The Gaels got on the board first as Jake Rudel, last season's team leader in goals, beat the Cal keeper on a one-on-one in the 18th minute of play. Rudel finished the match with two shots, both on goal, in 63 minutes of action.

Saint Mary's held their lead heading into the second half but the Golden Bears would answer just minutes into the final period as Alonzo Del Mundo scored the equalizer in the 52nd minute on a pass from Shinya Kadono.

Remi Prieur played all 90 minutes for the Gaels in net and made four saves to his credit. Drake Callender started in goal for Cal and played 55 minutes before being subbed out.

• Rudel gave Saint Mary's an early lead after stealing the ball at midfield and beating Callender one-on-one in the 18th minute.
• Following back-to-back corner kicks, Del Mundo equalized for Cal with a shot that found netting in the 52nd minute.
