GOLF | Gaels Finish 4th at Showdown in the Rockies

Saint Mary's wrapped up the final day at Huntsman Springs with a 3-under performance and fourth place

DRIGGS, Idaho — After the final day at the Showdown in the Rockies on Tuesday, Saint Mary's finished in fourth place with a third round score of 3-under at Huntsman Springs in the team's first tournament of the year.

FINAL ROUND LEADERBOARD
Utah won the tournament as they ended the day at 14-under and finished the 54-hole tournament at 22-under. Texas Tech and Oregon State tied for second place with a score of 8-under. The Gaels also narrowly missed second place as they went 3-under in the final round and 7-under overall.

Saint Mary's finished the tournament with two players in the top-10 as Ryan Grauman finished third in the tournament with a combined score of 9-under and Ethan Farnam tied for ninth place at 2-under. Both Gaels are new to the team this season

Kyler Dunkle of Utah placed first in the tournament with a score of 13-under and had a 5-under round for the day. David Laskin of Arizona finished second with a combined score of 11-under while Grauman, Spencer Tibbits (Oregon State) and Sandy Scott (Texas Tech) rounded out the top five, respectively.

FINAL ROUND HIGHLIGHTS

In the back nine, Grauman recorded four birdies and one eagle.
Farnam, Michael Slesinski, and Jeffrey Inouye-Wong each scored three birdies on the back nine.
Slesinski and Blake Hathcoat both tied for 17th in the tournament with total scores of 2-over.
The Gaels combined for a 285 round score, tying with Texas Tech and Oregon State.

"This tournament was a good way to start the season and test where we are as a team. The guys were able to put themselves in contention and made a late push to finish fourth but coming up only one shot short of second place was disappointing."
"This is a young and talented team and if we continue to improve, this could be a great season. We have a tough test at Inverness in Ohio next week and hopefully this solid start will carryover there."
