Gaels' keeper Remi Prieur has been named WCC Men's Soccer Co-Player of the Week after notching two shutouts last week.
SAN BRUNO, Calif. — Gaels' keeper Remi Prieur has been named WCC Men's Soccer Co-Player of the Week after logging two clean sheets last week to help push the No. 17 Gaels to a perfect 9-0 record.
Prieur began the week with a double-overtime shutout against UC Santa Barbara as he made two saves in 108 minutes to help his team clinch a 1-0 win. On Saturday, Prieur had another excellent game with four saves to record his second clean sheet of the week in a 1-0 road win against No. 13 UC Davis.
Prieur now leads the nation in shutouts with six. The redshirt junior has a sterling 0.44 goals against average and .882 save percentage on the season and his nine wins are the most by any Saint Mary's keeper since Andre Rawls had 12 in 2014.
Prieur's nomination is the third WCC Player of the Week award the Gaels have received this season. Anders Engebretsen (Week 1) and Jake Rudel (Week 5) also earned the distinction with 8 points weekends each earlier this season.
Also named WCC Co-Player of the Week was Pacific's Jonathan Jimenez who scored two goals and recorded two assists in matches against Stanford and UC Irvine.
No. 17 Saint Mary's will travel to New Mexico for their next match against the Lobos on Wednesday. More information on the contest can be found on the Gaels' schedule page.
