GOLF | VanderVeer Leads Gaels at Arizona Medalist

Dylan VanderVeer leads Saint Mary's trio of competitors after Day 1 of the Arizona Medalist.
TUCSON, Ariz. — On the same day of the Arizona Intercollegiate, also happening in Tucson, three Gaels participated in the first day of the Arizona Medalist tournament at Randolph North Golf Course.
THE LEADERBOARD
Dylan VanderVeer finished the first two rounds in tied for eighth place out of the 39 individual competitors. The redshirt sophomore began the day with a 3-under opening round and finished at 4-under after 36 holes.
Also competing for the Gaels were Evan Peterson, who is currently t-16th with a 1-under par score, and Jeffrey Inouye-Wong, who shot 3-over. Peterson had five birdies during the first round and completed it at 4-under. Wong also had four birdies in the middle round.
Shamu Bodhidatta (UW), Will Adams (UTSA), and Jino Sohn (ASU) are currently tied for first place with 9-under scores through two rounds. Two other Sun Devils, Alex del Rey and James Leow, are also in the top-6 with scores of 7-under.
