WSOC | Gaels Continue WCC Play Against Tigers, Lions

Saint Mary's welcomes Pacific on Wednesday before traveling to Los Angeles to play LMU.

MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's (6-7-1, 0-3-1 WCC) will host Pacific on Wednesday for a mid-week matchup before traveling to southern California on Saturday to face off against Loyola Marymount. The contest on Wednesday will begin at 3:30 p.m. while Saturday's game will have a 6 p.m. kickoff.

The Gaels are looking to bounce back from a tough loss on the road last week as they fell to No. 5 BYU in an 8-0 decision. Five Gaels each recorded a shot in the contest while Maleah Milner collected five saves and Sarah Sawatsky posted two.

Jaylen Crim remains in the top-10 West Coast Conference rankings as she is tied for seventh in points (13) and goals (5) and ranks tied for 10th in shots with 32. Alongside Crim, Jordyn Cunningham also ranks in the top-10 as they each are tied for 10th in assists with three. Goalkeeper Maleah Milner is sixth in the conference for total saves with 45 while averaging three saves a game.

As a team, SMC has outshot their opponents 207-193 and average 14.8 shots per game compared to their opponents with 13.8.

ABOUT PACIFIC
Pacific holds a 3-11 overall record and are 0-4 in West Coast Conference action this season as they are coming off their sixth straight loss against San Francisco in a 3-2 double overtime loss. During the contest, the Tigers recorded a goal in each half to claim the lead but it was not enough to overcome the Dons as USF tallied two additional goals to secure the victory. 

Isabella Pariente has led the Tigers' offense so far this year with 32 shots, four assists, and six points. Three of Pacific's players have each collected two goals to lead the team through 14 games played. In the net, Weronika Baranowska has posted 35 saves for the Tigers while Brenna Crump has collected 26 saves and owns a 3-3 record. 

Saint Mary's is 9-5-0 all-time against Pacific and have defeated the Tigers in their last two matchups, including a 1-0 shutout in 2017. 

ABOUT LOYOLA MARYMOUNT
Loyola Marymount will head into Saturday's match with a 3-9-2 record and are also 2-2 in conference play this year. Before taking on Saint Mary's, the Lions will host Gonzaga on Wednesday at 7 p.m. In their last matchup, LMU fell to San Diego in a close 3-2 loss despite a 2-1 lead in the beginning of the second half. 

The Lions are led by Amber McCorkle as she has tallied three goals and seven points while Skylar Robledo has also led the team in shots with 22 and seven of those coming on frame. Goalkeeper Sadie Kenny has posted a 3-5 record while recording 26 saves in 12 game appearances. Kenny ranks fourth in the conference in goals against average at 1.24 and is ninth in save percentage with .680. 

LMU holds a 14-8-4 all-time record against Saint Mary's with the last meeting in 2018 resulting in a double overtime scoreless tie.
