LAST TIME OUT
No. 18 Saint Mary's cinched down defensively in the first half to pull away from Cal Poly and would lead by as many as 36 in a 79-48 blowout in McKeon Pavilion on Sunday.

Saint Mary's had their best defensive performance of the young season, holding the Mustangs to shoot only 40 percent from the field and 22 from beyond the arc, both season-lows. The Gaels were +12 on the boards and also picked up seven offensive rebounds.

The Gaels' defense locked down the Mustangs' top scoring options as sophomore guard Junior Ballard, who averaged over 14 points coming into the game, missed all 10 of his shot attempts and finished the night with zero points. Jamaal Smith and Kyle Colvin, who also came in Sunday's game averaging over 10 points per game, were held to two points each.

Jordan Ford had a game-high 21 points while shooting an efficient 8-for-14 including two made 3-pointers. Malik Fitts also reached double figures with 12 points and the Gaels as a team shot 54 percent from the field.

ABOUT FRESNO STATE
The Bulldogs are 2-2 heading into Wednesday's contest. Fresno State was able to fend off Winthrop with a buzzer beater and also defeated Div. II CSU San Bernardino while dropping matchups to Oregon and San Diego.

Fresno State has four players averaging double-figures points this season but none have more than freshman guard Jarred Hyder who has scored 17.0 through three games. Despite not playing against CSUSB, Hyder leads the team in field goal attempts, 3-point attempts, and is tied for second in free throw attempts.

In addition to Hyder, the Bulldogs also have another freshman in their starting lineup, 6-10 forward Orlando Robinson. The Las Vegas native is averaging 14.0 points over the past two contests and leads the team in field goal percentage at 56 percent. Senior Nate Grimes leads the team in rebounding at 9.3 boards per game.

Saint Mary's leads the all-time serious 19-18 and have won two of the three matchups during the Randy Bennett era. In the team's last meeting, Patty Mills scored 27 points to lead the Gaels to victory over Paul George and the Bulldogs in McKeon, 99-85.

NEUTRAL SITES
Wednesday's game will be the second of five neutral site games for the Gaels during the non-conference portion of the season. The team will play twice at Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix against Dayton (Dec. 8) and Arizona State (Dec. 18) and well as once more at Chase Center in San Francisco against Nevada (Dec. 21).
