MTEN | Gaels Play Holy Names, Nevada This Week

Saint Mary's will host the Hawks before traveling to Reno to take on the Wolfpack.

MORAGA, Calif. — The Gaels will return to the court for two matches this week, one at home and one on the road versus Holy Names and Nevada, respectively.

ABOUT HOLY NAMES
The Div. II Hawks are 0-3 this season with two losses coming to ranked opponents, UH Hilo and Hawaii Pacific. Holy Names also played Nevada and Fresno State in exhibition play earlier this spring and had a match against San Francisco postponed due to inclement weather.

Valentin Baranyi has been the Hawks' top singles competitor early on, going 2-1 from the No. 5 singles slot. On the doubles side, Hugo Colpart and Alex Vinee-Munoz have earned HNU's lone doubles win of the spring.

ABOUT NEVADA
The Wolfpack are 3-2 this spring and boast two wins over WCC teams, Pacific and Portland. Nevada has not played since Feb. 2 however due to poor weather cancelling matches against Cal Poly and Santa Clara.

Julien Evrard has gone 3-1 as the Wolfpack's top singles player this spring while Jonathan Aremon has a 3-1 record as well. Nevada is 16-11 in singles matches so far.

Evrard has also picked up three wins on the doubles courts while paired with teammates Jeremy Merville and Kostya Nesterenko in the No. 1 slot. Gvidas Motuzas also has two doubles wins for the team.

GAELS LAST TIME OUT
David Abfalter picked up the lone singles win for the Gaels' in their last match against Grand Canyon, a 6-1 loss at the Korth Tennis Complex.

Abfalter won in straight sets over his opponent Jakub Novak, 7-5, 7-5.
