Saint Mary's will hit the road on Friday to play five games against four schools at the St. George Red Desert Classic.
MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's (2-9) will travel to Utah as they look to play five games at the St. George Red Desert Classic beginning on Friday with a doubleheader versus CSU Bakersfield and Utah Valley.
The first game will begin at 3 p.m. while the back end of the doubleheader will start at approximately 5:30 p.m.
ABOUT THE ST. GEORGE RED DESERT CLASSIC
The Gaels will play five games in St. George over the weekend with double headers on Friday and Sunday along with a single contest on Saturday. Saint Mary's will face off against CSU Bakersfield, Utah Valley, Utah State, and Southern Utah in the tournament.
During the tournament, SMC will play Utah Valley twice and will play all other teams just once. The Wolverines currently hold a 3-7 overall record and have yet to play a game at home this season. Southern Utah, the host, is 1-7 so far this season and their lone win was a 7-6 victory against North Dakota during the UNLV Marucci Desert Classic.
LAST TIME OUT
Last week, the Gaels competed in their home opener against Cal and managed to pick up five runs with four in the first inning, but ultimately fell as the Bears collected 13 to take the win. Saint Mary's then faced off against five schools in the Aggie Invitational hosted by UC Davis. The Gaels recorded a 7-3 win over Idaho State during the first day of the tournament, but were overcome by the four other contests.
Abbey Mariani leads the team with 10 hits while Bailey Lotz has collected five runs and two doubles. Three Gaels have recorded four RBI's a piece and Kalissa Heihn is the lone Gael with two homeruns. In the circle, Eryn McCoy has picked up both wins for Saint Mary's and has a 6.21 ERA in 32.2 innings pitched.
