SB | Gaels Take Down Knights in Doubleheader

Saint Mary's won the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against Fairleigh Dickinson.
MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's split their doubleheader against Fairleigh Dickinson on Tuesday in two close pitching battles.
Game 1
Saint Mary's 3, Fairleigh Dickinson 2
HOW IT HAPPENED
Two late runs in the first game of the doubleheader gave Saint Mary's the lead that would eventually hold for a 3-2 win.
A Knights' error allowed Kimiko Zapanta to score to tie the game in the sixth and Allie Bullock followed suit with a sacrifice fly to bring Bailey Lotz home. Dylan Linton went 2-for-3 for the Gaels at the top of the lineup and had one of the teams' three doubles in the contest.
Sofia Earle earned the win in relief as she threw 2.2 innings of shutout, no-hitter softball. Eileen Perez got the start in the circle and allowed just one earned run over 4.1 innings while striking out four.
Game 2
Fairleigh Dickinson 1, Saint Mary's 0
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Gaels were edged in a pitching duel in the second half of the doubleheader. Saint Mary's picked up just two hits as FDU's Erica Johnson threw a complete game shutout.
Eryn McCoy picked up the tough luck loss as she also threw a complete game and allowed one run on six hits. McCoy struck out four and didn't allow an extra base hit in the contest.
Nikki Alexander picked up both of the Gaels' two hits in the loss.
