
BVB | No. 18 Gaels to Face Local Opponents Pacific, No. 12 Cal This Week

MORAGA, Calif. – The red-hot No. 18 Gaels will be taking their nine-match win streak on the road this week as they face Pacific on Wednesday and No. 12 Cal on Saturday, before returning for a home match against the Bears the following Wednesday.
SCOUTING REPORT
Saint Mary's has been dominant through the first month of the season with a record of 9-3. The Gaels have not lost a match since February 24 against Pepperdine. The squad has also swept their opponents six times this season and have swept the last two matches in a row. Three of the pairs are currently on nine-match winning streaks including Lindsey Knudsen and Sarah Chase. The seniors, who are playing in the number one position, beat out their opponents from San Jose State, San Francisco, and Sacramento State all in straight sets last week. In only two sets were their opponents able to score more than 13 points. The pair was also just awarded Muscle Milk Student Athletes of the week.
PACIFIC
The Tigers have not played a game this season, so their season opener will take place against the Gaels on Wednesday. Last season, the team finished with a record of 10-13 and ended the season 3-3 at home. Pacific lost both of their matches against Saint Mary's last season (4-1, 3-2) and will play the Gaels exactly one year after their last meeting (3/20/18).
CALIFORNIA
The Bears are 10-3 this season with an undefeated, 4-0 record on their home court. The team is most recently coming off of a 2-3 loss against Hawaii, however prior to that, they were on a three-match winning streak. They began the season on a four-match winning streak before being swept by No. 1 UCLA. When the Bears and the Gaels last met, Cal won the match three sets to two.
