MTEN | Krutik Earns Win in Loss To Pepperdine

Daniel Krutik grabbed a singles win on Saturday but the Gaels would fall to Pepperdine, 4-1.

MALIBU, Calif. — Senior Daniel Krutik earned the Gaels' lone win on Saturday as Saint Mary's (3-13, 1-4 WCC) dropped Saturday's road match to the Waves, 4-1.

Krutik took care of business as the Gaels' No. 4 player with a straight set win over Pawel Jankowiak. The senior breezed to a 6-1 win in the first set before clinching the match with a 6-4 second set. Krutik is now tied for first on the team with six singles wins this season.

Pepperdine (8-8, 2-1 WCC) grabbed the doubles point with wins on Courts 1 and 2. Abhishek Bastola and Matis Bot were up 5-4 as the Gaels' No. 3 tandem before the match was called.

The Waves finished the match with wins on Court 1, 3, and 4. Bastola, the Gaels' No. 2, was tied 3-3 in the final set of his match before the contest was called while Boris Reckow was leading on Court 6 as well but went unfinished. Bot battled into three sets but was edged in the final set 6-4 by Tim Zeitvogel on Court 4.
