Saint Mary's claimed the first two points on Friday, but were unable to overcome the Toreros as they fell 4-2.
MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's (9-10, 5-3 WCC) took an early 2-0 lead over San Diego on Friday, but eventually fell with a final score of 4-2.
Clementine Clement and Chloe Goyette picked up the first doubles win for the Gaels after collecting a 6-2 win over their opponents. Hind Abdelouahid and Mariia Kozyreva followed suit as they teamed up to take down the Pacific Torres/Colling duo and won, 6-4, to claim the doubles point.
In singles action, Clement earned the lone singles victory as the No. 3 spot as she cruised to an easy 6-0, 6-1 win over Daniela Morales. Kozyreva and Abdelouahid each put up a hard fight as they both claimed the second set in their respective matches to force three sets of play, but both Gaels were unable to overcome their opposition. Only one singles match went unfinished during the matchup.
