The Gaels will look to defend their conference title this fall after the program's best season ever last year.
MORAGA, Calif. — Coming off an spectacular 18-0-2 season that saw them claim the West Coast Conference Title and make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament, Saint Mary's will look to repeat their success in 2019 with the announcement of their fall schedule.
The Gaels begin exhibition play against the team that ended their season, the Stanford Cardinal, on Aug. 20 on the road. Four days later, Saint Mary's will host Cal at home for an exhibition match at 4 p.m.
The regular season begins on Aug. 30 with a home contest against UC Irvine at 4 p.m. The Gaels also host Nebraska-Omaha and Grand Canyon within the week before traveling to San Jose State on Sept. 9 for a 7 p.m. matchup.
SMC will also host two more teams they faced last season in UC Davis (Sept. 26) and Sacramento State (Sept. 29). The Gaels defeated both clubs last year on the road, including the then-No. 13 Aggies.
Saint Mary's other road trips include Bakersfield and Las Vegas, where they will take on UNLV and Utah Valley. The Gaels wrap up their non-conference slate at Northern Illinois on Oct. 5.
Conference play begins on Oct. 12 at Santa Clara and will conclude on Nov. 16 at home versus Portland. Saint Mary's will play four of their seven WCC matches in Moraga this season and, aside from the Pilots, host San Diego, Pacific, and Loyola Marymount.
The Gaels currently hold a 24-match unbeaten streak dating back to 2017 and have not lost at home since Sept. 16, 2016 against Air Force. The team is 18-0-5 on their home turf since that contest.
Saint Mary's will return almost their entire roster after losing only one senior to graduation this spring. The team had their first ever All-Americans in Jake Rudel and Remi Prieur who were named to the Third Team last season.
