The Saint Mary's women's soccer team reported for their first practice of the season last week.
MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's women's soccer team hosted their first practice of the fall season last week in anticipation of the 2019 season which kicks off on Aug. 23 at North Dakota State.
Gaels' head coach Travis Clarke was more than happy to be back on the pitch coaching his squad.
"It's really exciting to get back on the field with the student-athletes this year," said Clarke. "It's a good group of student-athletes. We have a lot of athleticism and talent in this group and we feel that the incoming players can help us a lot this season."
Saint Mary's will be seeking for their first ever West Coast Conference title this season and build off of their seven wins from last year. A major bonus for the team in 2019 will be a large senior crop with plenty of games under their belts.
"All seven of our seniors have had significant playing experience," said Gaels' goalkeeper Maleah Milner. "They've really grown into their roles on our team as leaders, as players, as people, and they set the tone for us really well."
Senior Jaylen Crim led the team in scoring last year and is now looking forward to a leadership role in her final season in Moraga.
"Being one of those seniors is something I've looked forward to over the past three years and for it to finally be here is really cool," the forward explained.
Saint Mary's will host their first home game of the season on Aug. 29 at 3:30 p.m. versus Green Bay. Tickets for the upcoming season can be found by clicking here or at the stadium gate.
