MORAGA, Calif. – After bringing success to Saint Mary's women's basketball for eight years, Allyson Fasnacht has been promoted to Associate Head Coach.
"Allyson is well-deserving of the title of Associate Head Women's Basketball coach," said head coach Paul Thomas. "She has served the College, Athletics Department, and most importantly the women's basketball team with a deep sense of pride and loyalty. She is one of the most selfless humans I know and does everything she can to help our program be successful. It was an honor for me to give her this title."
Entering her 12th year of coaching at the collegiate level, Fasnacht began her tenure with the Gaels as Assistant Coach in June of 2011. Her duties include scheduling, domestic and international recruiting, player development, opponent scouting, game and practice preparations, elite and summer team camps, as well as external relations. Under her guidance, Saint Mary's has collected 27 individual All-West Coast Conference honors while winning 20-plus games and reaching the postseason in each of her eight seasons. Proving her ability to develop talent, she has guided six different players to All-WCC Freshmen Team Honors while 14 individuals have been named to All-WCC teams. Fasnacht has also helped lead SMC to a 156-87 (.641 winning percentage) record during her time with the program.
"I am truly honored to be promoted to the Associate Head Women's Basketball Coach at Saint Mary's College," said Fasnacht. "I'd like to thank Coach Thomas for his belief and trust in me over our nine years together. I wouldn't be the coach or person I am without his guidance and support as I've grown personally and professionally. It is a joy and a privilege to come to work at Saint Mary's every day with the staff and student-athletes we have in our program and department. The opportunity to serve our college, athletics department, and our women's basketball program is a blessing. The future is bright and I'm so happy to be a part of it."
