MSOC | Gaels to Open Season No. 11 in Coaches Poll

Saint Mary's was listed as the 11th best team in the country according to United Soccer Coaches.

MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's will begin the 2019 season in the national spotlight once again as they were ranked the 11th best team in the country according to yesterday's United Soccer Coaches poll.

The Gaels are coming off their best season in program history, finishing last year with an 18-0-2 record and reaching the Round of 16 in the NCAA Tournament. SMC topped out at No. 4 during the season and eventually ended 2018 ranked No. 9 in the coaches' poll.

Saint Mary's will face a number of top-25 opponents during the season as well beginning with their exhibition opener at No. 5 Stanford on Aug. 20. The Gaels will then host No. 25 UC Irvine to begin their regular season and will face No. 20 Portland and Pacific (receiving votes) during conference play.
